Creative Stirling and Europa Music Unlock Historic Treats

Stirling MP Alyn Smith has warmly welcomed an exciting collaboration from local institutions Creative Stirling and Europa Music, commemorating an event which shaped the music landscape of Forth Valley for generations: The Beatles performing in Bridge of Allan in 1963.

Visiting Creative Stirling’s ‘Made in Stirling’ premises on Kings Street, Mr Smith was toured around the interactive exhibition ‘SUPERFAN: Stirling’s Story of The Beatles’, which has been designed and curated around a collection of Beatles and other sixties music print ephemera, obsessively collected and carefully archived over the years by local SUPERFAN Douglas Montgomery.

The exhibition runs until August 14th, upstairs in the ‘Made In Stirling’ store, 44 King St, FK8 1AY, and is free unless there is a ticketed event.

Alyn Smith MP said:

‘Stirling’s music scene has a long and proud history, and I’m delighted to see some of our highlights showcased by two pillars of the local arts and culture industry: Creative Stirling and Europa Music. We’re extremely lucky in Stirling to have such engaged and collaborative creative professionals – I pay tribute to the volunteers and figures who make such showcases possible. The Beatles certainly left their mark on their world, and I’d encourage local residents and visitors to get themselves along to the exhibition whilst they have the chance.’

Joe Hall, Director at Creative Stirling, said:

‘This exhibition is the latest addition to our exciting arts and cultural programme for Stirling. Our ‘Made in Stirling’ premises on Kings Street moves from strength to strength, and I’m always heartened to see the community support our work. Stirling has great potential and a growing creative scene – we’re always happy to see our elected officials support the arts, and look forward to welcoming more visitors to the exhibition over the coming summer.’
