Stirling MP Alyn Smith said:

‘This is just the latest wheeze from the UK Chancellor, which doesn’t just fail to impress but misses the mark entirely. Businesses and households all across Stirling and Scotland are in deep financial trouble, as the mismanagement of the UK economy continues under Rishi Sunak.

‘I’m disappointed the vital campaign to cut VAT to 5% for hospitality businesses has gone unheeded thus far. These businesses make up a hugely important part of our economy, as well as our sense of identity and place. The fight goes on to see them fairly supported in these tough economic times.

‘It’s clear this Government has run out of road. There should be an immediate General election to send these jokers packing.’
