Youth Hub Plans Progress After Successful Grant Application

Local MP Alyn Smith has congratulated the team at the Doune and Deanston Youth Project (DDYP) for securing much needed funds for their ambitious building project, as the charity opens a new chapter in its service to Stirling’s young people.

DDYP run their much loved After School Club, Summer Club and Youth Club from their base in Moray Park Doune. The near £270,000 grant will go towards the construction of a new building, which will see services secured and expanded in future – including enhanced childcare hours.

The funding support comes as part of an overall £445,000 package for community-led projects across the Stirling Council area, funded through the Place Based Investment Programme and financed by the Scottish Government. The Place Based Investment Programme opened to applications earlier this year for capital projects that support local area regeneration, community development and economic growth.

Stirling MP Alyn Smith said:

‘Social and economic regeneration takes many forms, and I’m glad to see funders recognise the clear need for DDYP’s important work in the community. I understand their current temporary building is over 40 years old, and with this funding they’ll be able to pursue a base that truly meets their future ambitions. I want to thank everyone involved with the charity for their hard work and dedication to Stirling’s young people – you’re having a huge impact on families and households in these strained times.’
