Stirling MP Welcomes Local Tennis Court Funding

Categories: Constituency, Culture and Tourism

£153,000 Invested in King’s Park and Bridge of Allan Courts

Local MP Alyn Smith has welcomed a funding agreement between Stirling Council, the LTA Tennis Foundation and the UK Government’s Park Tennis Project, which will see improvement works take place in two of Stirling’s public parks.

The tennis courts in King’s Park and the Memorial Park, Bridge of Allan will benefit from the scheme funding, which aims to bring park tennis courts in poor or unplayable states back to life for the benefit of local communities, providing opportunities for children and adults to get active – delivering significant physical and mental health and wellbeing benefits to participants.

The project will continue to work with local authorities to help deliver the renovations and a range of activities across park sites. This will include weekly organised free park tennis sessions for all ages, playing levels and experience where equipment is provided, meaning that people will not need someone to play with or their own racket.

Stirling MP Alyn Smith said:

‘This is good news for Stirling, getting back into use underutilised tennis courts and opening up more sporting opportunities for local residents. Both parks lie at the heart of their respective communities, and I hope to see the courts back in action and an attraction in their own right in due course.’
