#GetTheBanDone Supports Private Member’s Bill

Local Stirling MP Alyn Smith has backed a campaign to ban the import of hunting trophies to the UK, after the Private Member’s Bill was brought forward by Conservative MP Henry Smith.

The legislation, supported by the Government, has been backed in a high-profile celebrity campaign to help tackle the inhumane treatment of endangered species across the world – and the celebration of their deaths through trophy collection and return.

The Bill is set to be debated in the House of Commons, before passing to the House of Lords.

Alyn Smith MP said:

‘I’m very glad to throw my weight behind this Bill, especially as it addresses an important issue to so many Stirling constituents. The huntings and slaughter of endangered animals for sport is barbaric, and even more so when their dead remains are imported back to the UK as some kind of sick trophy. Such industry serves real harm to habitats and ecosystems around the world, and this Bill is a step in the right direction in helping to reduce the threats endangered species face.’
