Stirling MP Writes to Local Households

MP for Stirling Alyn Smith and MSP for Clackmannanshire and Dunblane Keith Brown have backed calls to save postal provision in Bridge of Allan, following questions over the future of Post Office services in the area.

The McColl’s outlet on Fountain Road in Bridge of Allan has been earmarked for closure, after McColl’s was taken over by supermarket-chain Morrison’s. Post Office services in the Bridge of Allan area are currently located within McColl’s store.

Both Mr Smith and Mr Brown have reached out to the Post Office for reassurances on the measures they are taking to identify a possible new location to support the local community, with Stirling’s MP sending out a letter with an online petition to show community support.

Supporters can sign the petition here.

Alyn Smith MP said:

‘It is not reasonable for communities to expect local services in their area, and I remain deeply concerned that the recent corporate reshuffling we’ve seen may see Bridge of Allan lose Post Office provision. I urge local residents and businesses to read my letter and sign this petition to express their support for local service provision. Meanwhile, Keith Brown MSP and I will consult with the community and local businesses to devise the best route forward.’
