Agriculture and Farming Vital to Stirling’s Economy

Local MP Alyn Smith has praised Stirling’s farmers and producers, emphasising their importance to a sustainable, fairer and greener economy during a visit to the United Auctions Stirling Bull Sales.

Hosted at the Stirling Agriculture Centre, the sales take place each October, February and May, attracting thousands of visitors from across Scotland and the world to sell and trade high quality livestock.

Scottish farming continues to enjoy an enviable reputation for high quality produce and sustainable practices, helping showcase the benefits of locally sourced food to Stirling’s collective health and economy.

Alyn Smith MP said:

‘I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Stirling Bull Sales, and the opportunity to personally thank Stirling’s farmers and agricultural businesses for the efforts they’ve put in over the pandemic. Local food producers kept us fed during the darkest days of Covid, and their sustainable practices continue to support our local economy.

‘Businesses like United Auctions have an incredibly valuable role to play in bringing together innovative Stirling businesses and promoting Scottish produce. I thank Christopher and the team for all the work they and others do in boosting Stirling’s domestic record on industry best practice, contributing to Scotland’s well-earned reputation for food and drink excellence.’
