Community Covid Testing Urged Ahead of Winter

Stirling MSP Evelyn Tweed and Alyn Smith MP have urged local Stirling residents to undertake regular community testing, as part of local efforts to control the spread of Covid-19.

With Covid cases rising across the Forth Valley area, steps have been taken to ensure communities across the Stirling area have access to PCR testing and home Lateral Flow Device testing kits, in packs of 7.

Mobile testing will be available in different locations at the very heart of Stirling’s communities from Tuesday 2nd November until Sunday 7th November, targeting higher footfall areas and harder to reach communities.

Residents across Stirling who do not currently have any symptoms of Covid-19 can voluntarily attend the Coronavirus testing units.

There is no need to book and testing is available at the following locations and times:

  • Thursday 4th November – Callander, The Meadows Car Park, FK17 8BB – 10.30am-4pm.
  • Friday 5th November – The Vue, Forthside Car Park, FK8 1QZ – 10am-4pm.
  • Saturday 6th November – Cowie Community Centre Car Park, Cowie, FK7 7BL – 10am-4pm.
  • Sunday 7th November – Drymen Primary School, G63 0DY – 11am – 3.30pm.

Alyn Smith MP said:

‘The virus hasn’t gone away, and as we enter the winter months it is important we remain on our guard. I applaud this dedicated community testing programme, and strongly recommend members of the public continue to order their free Lateral Flow kits to test at home. Only by working together can we spot and isolate the virus to prevent it from spreading household to household.’

Evelyn Tweed MSP said:

‘As winter approaches and with local cases steadily rising, it’s vital for residents to regularly test to control the spread of Covid-19. It’s important to remember, you can still have the virus and pass it onto others whilst showing no visible symptoms. I’d urge people across Stirling to continue to test regularly, and follow public health guidance.’

These sites are only for people without symptoms. Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should book a test in the usual way via nhsinform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816.
