Stirling MP and MSP Urge Young People to Get Protected

Stirling MP Alyn Smith and Stirling MSP Evelyn Tweed have encouraged those aged 18-29 in the Stirling area to register online for their Covid-19 vaccination appointment.

Before this point, other age groups of eligible residents will have received a blue envelope inviting them to their vaccination appointment. Those in the 18-29 age range who have not yet had their first vaccination are instead asked to register their interest online at https://register.vacs.nhs.scot/ or by calling 0800 030 8013.

This online service is available until the 4th June to those living on mainland Scotland, as island communities are further advanced in this process.

Alyn Smith MP said:

‘Young people have been hit hard by the pandemic, with disruption to their social lives, education and employment opportunities. Scotland’s NHS have followed the science and vaccinated vulnerable and elderly groups first, scaling up vaccination efforts over the past few months. This online registration process for the 18-29 age group will help speed up these efforts over the coming weeks and months, and ensure more jags get into more arms.

‘I’m extraordinarily grateful to the NHS and all frontline workers for the bravery and commitment they’ve shown to keeping us all safe throughout this pandemic.’

Evelyn Tweed MSP said:

‘This is really welcome news for Stirling’s young people, who’ve had a particularly tough time through Covid-19. With every person we vaccinate, we’re another step closer towards returning to a greater level of normality. I’d encourage everyone who’s eligible to register their interest online or over the phone to book their vaccination slot. Communities across Stirling have made extraordinary sacrifices to get us all this far. Let’s stay the course and look forward to a brighter summer ahead.’
