Stirling MP sends condolences on passing of Duke of Edinburgh

Categories: News

SNP Member of the Westminster Parliament for Stirling Alyn Smith has today (Friday) sent his condolences on the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family in a note to the Lord Lieutenant of Falkirk and Stirling, Alan Simpson.

Alyn Smith MP said:

“It is of course sad when anyone passes away, and it is only right that we recognise the lifetime of public service the Duke of Edinburgh has given and the support he has been to Her Majesty the Queen.

“At 99 years of age he has been in some way a constant presence in all of our lives and his loss will be felt across Stirling and the Forth Valley.  I myself remember when he visited my primary school in what must have been the mid 1970s, we will all have our own memories of him.

“I am sure people across Stirling of all politics and none will be saddened today at this news, and I join with them in sending my condolences to the Royal Family.”
