Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford and Stirling MP Alyn Smith have welcomed news of new management and owners of the Thistles Shopping Centre, within Stirling’s City Centre.

Specialist retail management firm Scoop will oversee the management and running of the centre, as it adapts its retail offering amidst a post-covid landscape. Already the firm has begun engaging with Stirling Council and others as it seeks to plan a future growth strategy for the Centre.

Mr Smith and Mr Crawford have engaged with representatives from Scoop, and remain confident the Thistles Centre has a positive future ahead as part of Stirling’s core retail and leisure offer.

Bruce Crawford MSP said:

‘The Thistles Centre has played a pivotal role in Stirling’s local economy for many years, and it employs a significant number of local people. I wish the new management and owners well, and look forward to any additional investment that will build on Stirling’s impressive retail and leisure sector.’

Alyn Smith MP said:

‘Stirling’s high street has been severely affected by the pandemic, but I believe with the right support and vision, the Thistles Shopping Centre will complement and support local economic recovery. The Centre is a fantastic asset, and I’m pleased that the new owners and management team are meeting the challenge of Debenhams’ closure with ambition and robust planning.’
