Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford and MP Alyn Smith have today urged public vigilance, after NHS Forth Valley confirmed a cluster of COVID-19 cases in the area.
Test and Protect teams have already established spoken with the close contacts of the 5 individuals confirmed to be infected, and have supported local businesses in the Dunblane, Bridge of Allan and Stirling City areas to ensure compliance with public health guidance.
The risk to the wider local community remains low, and if residents have not been contacted by Test and Protect there is no need for further action at this stage. Residents are reminded to continue to follow national guidance set out by health authorities, and do their bit to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The public are asked to remember FACTS:
- Face coverings in enclosed spaces
- Avoid crowded places
- Clean your hands and surfaces regularly
- Two-metre social distancing
- Self-isolate and book a test if you develop coronavirus symptoms

‘Recent developments in the Forth Valley area shows just how easily this virus can spread, given half the chance. The risk to the general community from this cluster remains low, as Test and Protect teams have swiftly been in touch with close contacts of the infected individuals, and have visited any affected premises.
‘I give sincere thanks to our public health professionals, who are keeping us all safe with their important work.’
Alyn Smith MP said:
‘As life has slowly begun to re-open, it was always a possibility that clusters of COVID-19 would emerge. It remains vital that these incidences are caught early, that close contacts are established and asked to self-isolate. Test and Protect has leaped into action, and the risk to the local community at large from this cluster remains low.
It’s vitally important we all remember to stick to the public health guidance. Physical distancing, frequent hand washing and use of sanitizer, and the wearing of masks when appropriate all play a role in protecting our collective health.’
